Talascend is currently seeking a Kubernetes Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Richardson, Texas.
Overview
This role involves architecting, deploying, and supporting information and operational technology solutions at a mission-critical manufacturing site. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy infrastructure and software solutions, with a focus on Kubernetes environments.
Responsibilities
- Operational support of on-premises server stacks and technology, maintaining mission-critical infrastructure.
- Work with hyper-converged infrastructure platforms such as Dell VXRail and newer technologies.
- Troubleshoot performance issues related to virtualized and physical server workloads.
- Facilitate the implementation of new technology stacks and migrating workloads to virtualized environments.
- Collaborate with semiconductor process and equipment vendors to optimize infrastructure performance and fault tolerance.
- Participate in meetings to address and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues.
- Engage with factory systems and manufacturing operations teams regularly.
- Maintain infrastructure security standards in collaboration with corporate IT and security teams.
- Assist in deploying and supporting Kubernetes container-based application environments and expanding technological capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience in operational support of enterprise server ecosystems
- 5+ years of experience with Windows Server OS and RHEL Linux 5-9.x
- 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow or similar service management platforms
- 3+ years of experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, vSAN, vSphere, and VCF/NSX
- 1+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Experience with server automation activities or infrastructure as code tools like Tanium, CHEF, JSON, Powershell, Ruby, or other scripting languages
- Knowledge of network fundamentals such as firewall configuration, VPN setup, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, routing, and switching
- Proficiency in documenting infrastructure, automation scripts, and system configurations
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- Experience with Windows patching tools such as Tanium and OS hardening concepts
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Support experience with network infrastructure such as Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches
- Support experience with data recovery products like Rubrik
- Understanding of SCADA, manufacturing-focused Windows PCs and servers, and industrial network architectures
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Self-driven and motivated individual capable of working with minimum oversight
