Talascend is currently seeking an SAP ABAP & BTP Developer for a contract opportunity with our client in Foster City, California.
Overview
This role involves supporting the development and testing of SAP ABAP and SAP BTP applications, with a focus on building foundational skills in the RAP framework, UI5/Fiori development, and integration across various SAP modules. The position offers an opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience under the mentorship of senior architects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and testing OData services using the RAP framework under guidance from senior developers
- Contribute to UI5/Fiori application development in SAP Business Application Studio, starting with Smart Controls and UI annotations
- Shadow architecture discussions related to App Router configurations and gradually take on configuration tasks
- Support XSUAA authentication setup and Cloud Connector connectivity tasks with supervision
- Participate in functional walkthroughs of SAP environments, including EAM, MM/EWM, and PP/QM modules
- Assist with creating Fiori Elements extensions, controller logic, and CDS view development
- Write Python scripts and utilities to support testing, data processing, and automation tasks related to SAP projects
- Complete structured SAP training and certification during onboarding
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering field (recent graduate, 0–2 years experience)
- Working proficiency in Python programming (core language, scripting, basic object-oriented programming)
- Foundational knowledge of ABAP, object-oriented programming, and SAP concepts through coursework, internships, or projects
- Basic understanding of web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST/OData is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly in a mentorship environment
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration across teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic exposure to SAP BTP, Fiori, or cloud application development
- SAP certifications completed during college
- Familiarity with Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Requests, FastAPI/Flask, or PyTest
- Exposure to AI agent development frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or MCP-based tools through coursework or projects
