Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.
Overview
This role involves supporting electric utility design engineering projects, focusing on developing work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV through 138kV. The position offers diverse work in both field and office environments, with opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, design, and quality standards.
- Travel to sites for inspections and perform engineering design work post-site visits.
- Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, conductor sags, tensions, voltage drop, and flicker.
- Develop permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies using engineering principles.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements.
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, with travel reimbursements available.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, including outdoor environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
