Talascend is currently seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
Sets up and operates machines and hand tools to shape, alter, smooth, and assemble sheet metal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, and engineering drawings while working under immediate supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate drill presses, punch presses, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment.
- Shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, rough sketches, and engineering drawings to shape metal accurately.
- Use hand and power tools to shape and smooth metal and blend seams.
- Set up and operate soldering and welding equipment as required.
- Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
- Lift more than 30 pounds and perform repetitive lifting as required.
- Work with substantial machine, chemical, biological, or other physical risks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent may be required.
- Two to four years of experience in the field or a related area is preferred.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Ability to follow instructions and established guidelines.
- Experience operating sheet metal fabrication equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools.
- Ability to work under immediate supervision.
- Candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong technical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to independently interpret engineering drawings.
