Systems Administrator
Talascend is currently seeking a Systems Administrator for a contract opportunity with our client in Washington, District Of Columbia.
Overview
This role is responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware.
Responsibilities
- Management of systems infrastructures
- Implementing best practices to identify and recommend system functional specifications
- Configuration of physical and virtual systems
- Backup and recovery of IT infrastructure
- Updating and supporting systems by tuning performance
- Allocating storage space
- Implementing critical patches
- Reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues
Qualifications
- Typically requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience
- Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience
Requirements
- Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables
- Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area
- Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff
- Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts
- Deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution
- Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge
- Communicates with internal and client project team members
- Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches
- Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain
- Has broad understanding of other related specialty areas
