Talascend is currently seeking a Test Engineer Contractor for a contract opportunity with our client in Everette, Washington (State).

Overview

The role involves supporting testing operations for the Natrium Reactor, focusing on high temperature liquid sodium and salt related testing activities. Responsibilities include developing test plans, designing test fixtures, selecting instrumentation, performing testing activities, and conducting post-test data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal customers to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications.
  • Serve as test engineer supporting experimental design, operation, repair, and analysis of tests.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts including fixture design, control system integration, and lab space planning.
  • Design and select instrumentation for testing to meet experimental test objectives.
  • Develop and document test plans, test designs, and test procedures for experimental work.
  • Conduct data analysis and generate test reports.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of Engineering.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in a testing / research and development environment preferred.

Requirements

  • Alkali metal or molten salt testing and handling experience is preferred.
  • Experience with post-processing and documenting experiments.
  • Experience in design and integration of data acquisition and control system platforms.
  • Experience with hands-on assembly and operation of test systems.
  • Experience working with fluid systems is preferred.
  • Experience with multiple types of testing (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification).
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Safety conscience.
  • Ability to operate within a lightly structured environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, SolidWorks, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity.
  • Travel required: 0-5%.
