Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Programmer for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.

Overview

This role involves generating and maintaining CNC programs, supporting shop floor operations, and leading process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing high-precision components.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and EDM processes
  • Verify new CNC programs prior to release on the shop floor using Vericut
  • Provide CNC-related support to manufacturing engineering and operator training during machine startup or process improvements
  • Support daily operator troubleshooting and CNC programming needs on the shop floor
  • Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machine tools
  • Create and support workstation instructions for CNC-related issues
  • Lead process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding CNC operations and issues
  • Work effectively as an individual and within a team in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprentice graduate with 3 years of experience with graphical based CAM System CNC Programming OR High School Degree with 6 years of experience in CNC programming
  • Proficiency generating toolpaths and creating helper geometry
  • Experience with FANUC Macro B, probing, tool selection, data capture, and hole-location logic
  • Familiarity with 3-2-1 nesting and basic probing routines, and knowledge of CMM/metrology concepts
  • Ability to implement trigonometry and matrix rotations directly in code
  • Strong problem solving and shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry
  • Experience using Vericut or other CNC verification/simulation software
  • Familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Siemens
  • Proficiency interpreting drawing requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience machining high-temperature superalloys used in aerospace components
