Maintenance Technician - Plumber
Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Shift: M-F, 6am-2:30pm
Overview
The maintenance technician will perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the facilities. The role includes assisting with repairs, inspections, and various handyman tasks to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of the property.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning HVAC coils, changing filters and belts.
- Maintain and repair locks, locking mechanisms, doors, and furniture.
- Document maintenance activities for fire extinguishers and other building systems.
- Maintain and repair plumbing components including toilets, urinals, lavatories, flush valves, sinks, drains, water heaters, piping, and sump pumps.
- Prepare, prime, and paint building interior and exterior surfaces, and perform general handyman tasks.
- Complete special tasks such as painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, and other maintenance duties.
- Prioritize and manage work orders for preventive, corrective, and emergent tasks on a daily basis.
- Update work order status in real-time using CMMS systems.
- Escalate problems or issues to the customer and manager promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Proficient in basic computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook, and CMMS (Maximo).
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience and/or training in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of lift stations is preferred.
- Industrial plumbing experience, including basic repair and fix skills such as running a hand snake, replacing valves, and general plumbing tasks.
