Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Bellevue, Washington.

Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer – Applications is responsible for managing and optimizing business applications that support plant operations and enterprise functions, with primary ownership of computer-guided procedure and work execution capabilities delivered through the Digital Work Execution Platform. This role involves ensuring application performance, supporting upgrades, and providing technical leadership in application management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support business applications supporting plant operations, including enterprise systems such as EAM/ERP.
  • Plan, deploy, configure, and maintain applications in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Perform regular maintenance, including patching, updates, and configuration changes.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 application support, investigate issues, and mentor support staff.
  • Lead conversion of procedures into computer-guided Dynamic Instructions and optimize digital content for field performance.
  • Partner with various teams to gather feedback and enhance DI content for usability and compliance.
  • Develop, test, and validate digital procedures and work instructions.
  • Support system integration with IoT, GIS, SCADA, and other enterprise systems.
  • Implement automation for deployment, configuration, and monitoring of applications.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and prevent service degradation.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to configurations, workflows, and integrations.
  • Lead or contribute to system lifecycle projects, including implementation, upgrades, and retirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and minimal operational disruption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing enterprise or business applications.
  • At least 5 years of experience administering ERP/EAM platforms in regulated environments such as utility or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of plant operations and business processes within regulated industries.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/EAM systems like Oracle, IBM Maximo, or Asset Suite.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash), and integration tools (APIs, ETL).
  • Experience supporting HyperService/DWEP platforms, including services built on Node.js, Java, and hosted on Apache Tomcat.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and cybersecurity best practices for enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert, author, test, and optimize digital procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of procedure development, work package creation, and documentation within regulated industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with nuclear-grade procedures.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted enterprise applications and digital work execution platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FERC, NERC CIP, and NQA-1.
