Talascend is currently seeking a Systems Engineering Architect for a contract opportunity with our client in Phoenix, Arizona.
Overview
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain systems engineering tools and integrations to support aerospace workflows and Digital Thread initiatives. You will act as a core architect connecting enterprise engineering data with broader lifecycle systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain integrations between IBM ELM and enterprise systems such as PLM, CAD, ERP, and MES to form a unified Digital Thread.
- Build linked data pipelines across tools using OSLC, REST APIs, and middleware solutions.
- Define data federation and synchronization strategies to ensure a single source of truth across the product lifecycle.
- Establish automated configuration management links between systems engineering data and physical product structures.
- Align IBM ELM platform workflows with ARP4754 guidelines for civil aircraft development.
- Map and track development assurance levels across system architecture elements.
- Prepare automated traceability and verification matrices for compliance audits and reviews.
- Administer and configure the IBM ELM Suite, including DOORS Next Gen, EWM, ETM, Rhapsody, GCM, and JTS.
- Configure project areas, access rights, permissions, and workflow templates.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues and resolve configuration conflicts.
- Partner with quality assurance to align engineering test management with workflows.
- Manage change requests, defect tracking, and sprint planning within EWM.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ARP4754, DO-178C, and DO-254.
- Develop automation scripts, plugins, and integrations using REST APIs, OSLC, JavaScript, and Python.
- Design and maintain automated reports and compliance dashboards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software or systems engineering tooling.
- Proven experience integrating IBM ELM with major PLM systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Strong practical experience with ARP4754A/B frameworks, including DO-178C and DO-254.
- Deep expertise in the IBM ELM ecosystem, with specific certifications being a plus.
- Familiarity with safety-critical lifecycle management, Agile, SAFe, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience with requirements-based engineering, MBSE, OSLC integration, and scripting/automation.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
