Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Overview

This role involves performing field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations to support utility distribution projects. The engineer will coordinate with various stakeholders and provide support during construction, ensuring standards are met and issues are analyzed and mitigated.

Responsibilities

  • Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies using engineering principles and design
  • Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and collect field data to develop electrical design work packages
  • Perform field inspections and support engineering design work and calculations
  • Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards during project execution

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform field data collection
  • Valid US driver’s license required for travel
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally approximately 80% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in utility distribution design work
  • Power industry experience
  • Experience with field data collection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative attitude and professionalism
