Talascend is currently seeking a Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Asheville, North Carolina.

Overview

This role involves performing field inspections, engineering design work, and supporting construction activities within the utility distribution sector. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure standards are met and assist in troubleshooting outages.

Responsibilities

  • Review work provided by client and assess scope requirements
  • Conduct field inspections and collect data
  • Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews
  • Perform root cause analysis of outages and implement mitigation strategies
  • Travel locally and regionally up to 10%, perform site visits, and gather field data to assist in design development
  • Ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates in engineering technology or related field preferred
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid US driver’s license required for travel
  • Power/utilities experience preferred
  • Previous experience with field data collection preferred
