HVAC Supervisor
Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC Supervisor for a contract opportunity with our client in Franklin, Massachusetts.
Overview
This role involves supervising and directing shift teams and vendors to ensure efficient maintenance and operations of HVAC and other mechanical systems within a large real estate portfolio. The supervisor will maintain a safe environment, respond to emergencies, and support continuous system improvements while mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct shift team and vendors; perform and direct all maintenance service requests efficiently with minimal disruption to operations
- Maintain a safe, comfortable campus environment by operating, controlling, and performing preventive/predictive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Respond effectively to emergencies and alarms; perform facility inspections and report on conditions impacting occupancy and operations
- Prepare monthly/quarterly operations reports and technical evaluations; document work performance and materials procurement using work order system
- Comply with all safety procedures and policies for hazardous materials; recognize hazards and propose elimination methods; participate in ongoing technical and safety training programs
- Monitor quality and pricing of outside contractor work; develop sources for stock materials; recommend system improvements and identify equipment requiring replacement or reconditioning
- Support and mentor junior engineering staff; partner with engineering leads, project managers, and facility stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and represent operations in cross-functional meetings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Five (5)+ years of relevant experience as senior HVAC tech, lead HVAC tech, or similar role, with two (2)+ years managing maintenance/engineering personnel
- EPA Section 608 universal certification and journeyman refrigeration technician's license / Massachusetts refrigeration technicians license
- Experience using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), building management system (BMS), and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with thorough understanding of maintenance processes
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
