Talascend is currently seeking a Portfolio Management Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

This role involves providing advanced-level assessment, reporting, and recommendations related to project portfolios. The specialist will serve as the primary administrator and power user for portfolio management tools, supporting project execution, data governance, and continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure project portfolio management systems including creating portfolios, maintaining user access, and developing reports and dashboards.
  • Support project and portfolio management by preparing status summaries, analyzing risks and dependencies, and providing management recommendations.
  • Create, configure, and maintain SharePoint sites, including information architecture, permissions, and content updates.
  • Ensure accurate and timely project delivery while maintaining financial consistency across projects.
  • Monitor department workflows for data quality and process improvements, recommending changes as needed.
  • Create training materials and provide guidance and support to team members on processes and tools.
  • Resolve issues related to business processes and tools, tracking issues to resolution.
  • Support special projects within the department or cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Computer Science, or similar fields.
  • Knowledge of business and project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, cost, and risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), SharePoint, and project management tools like Planview Portfolios.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Planview Administrator certification.
  • Certifications in Project Management, SCRUM, or Business Analysis.
  • Experience with project budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting at the senior management level.
