Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.

Overview

The role involves supporting electric utility design engineering projects, developing work packages, performing engineering calculations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Candidates should be comfortable working both in the field and office settings, with opportunities for career growth and skill development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV.
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, conductor sags and tensions, voltage drop, and flicker.
  • Develop permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Support construction activities, including site inspections and post-construction reviews.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Travel to sites as needed for inspections and field work.

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel.
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work, including outdoor environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc or similar.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, MicroStation, and/or GIS.
  • Experience with NESC standards and design standards.
  • Professional attributes including a collaborative attitude, inclusivity, positive demeanor, and professional dress code.
