ES&H Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking an ES&H Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Overview
In this role, you will provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through inspection of project field execution activities. You will assist project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution. You will work directly with other project-level functions to assist them in addressing the applicable ES&H requirements in their work activities and conduct daily site surveillance to verify adequate use of PPE, routine equipment inspections, and project ES&H initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistance in a wide variety of environmental, safety, and health disciplines to facilitate implementation of the ES&H program and management system, including aiding compliance with standards, regulations, and contractual commitments.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, systems, and procedures for employee safety, health, and environmental protection.
- Maintains ES&H databases, including incident events, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors.
- Supports the use of software systems and electronic tools used by ES&H personnel.
- Leads teams in conducting risk assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring ES&H issues.
- Prepares reports, documents, and communications for program execution and records retention.
- Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident reports.
- Recommends and implements process improvements to minimize hazards.
- Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
- Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice on moderately complex issues.
- Supports ES&H field and office personnel across all disciplines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental, safety, health, or science-related discipline
- 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 standards
- Understanding of ES&H core processes
- Ability to perform root cause analysis for incident investigations
- Experience conducting project contractor orientation and audits
- Knowledge of safety programs, engineering systems, principles, and methodologies
- Familiarity with national safety laws and regulations, industry standards, and best practices
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and risk mitigation mechanisms
- Experience in ES&H assessments and inspection during construction
- Experience managing or oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications in safety or environmental disciplines (e.g., CSP, OSHA HAZWOPER)
