HR Support Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking a HR Support Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.
Overview
This role involves providing human resources administrative support, handling inquiries, and ensuring seamless communication across various HR functions. The position requires managing incoming calls, emails, and employee interactions, with a focus on accuracy and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming telephone calls and emails in accordance with service standards
- Respond to general inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and transition activities
- Create electronic records to document customer interactions and resolve issues efficiently
- Assist with escalations and issues resolution within the HR support team
- Train new associates and team members as needed
- Lead or assist with HR support center projects to support internal and external partners
- Coordinate with shared services on payroll, benefits, and recruiting processes
- Perform administrative duties such as research, updating reports, and preparing materials
- Establish and maintain record keeping and filing systems
- Process salary changes, promotions, and range adjustments, accurately updating HR systems and reports
- Respond to payroll and Kronos questions and assist with problem solving
- Address benefits questions and resolve issues related to employee benefits and risk management
- Complete forms and documentation for leave of absence, disability claims, workers compensation, and ADA accommodations
- Onboard new employees, ensuring all forms are completed and data entered correctly into systems
- Assist with termination processing, including final pay and vacation payout
- Participate in cross-functional project teams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, required
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of human capital management applications (e.g., Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and customer service focused
- Ability to project enthusiasm and promote team participation
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential, nice to have
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, nice to have
