Talascend is hiring a Senior Technical Accounting Manager for a long-term contract role supporting a nuclear industry client in Bellevue, Washington.

Overview

This role involves managing financial reporting functions across multiple business units, providing leadership and technical expertise in accounting standards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires a senior-level finance leader capable of overseeing complex accounting transactions and ensuring accurate financial statements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support on all technical accounting matters, including memos and white papers
  • Offer accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity with GAAP and company policies
  • Provide strategic leadership on technical accounting issues on a global scale
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource and guide the organization through complex issues
  • Provide training and ongoing US GAAP support to the Controller’s organization
  • Drive financial reporting processes, assess and implement technical accounting policies
  • Collaborate with departments such as operations, FP&A, tax, treasury, and legal to ensure alignment
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and regulations
  • Spearhead research initiatives on accounting standards and regulatory changes
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met and significant accounting matters are evaluated
  • Prepare and present reporting packages to executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Identify and implement process improvements for reporting and accounting operations
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, preparing supporting documentation and addressing inquiries
  • Lead special projects such as automation, due diligence, Sox testing, and process improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA certification required.
  • 12+ years of accounting experience, including roles in BIG 4 and public companies
  • Leadership experience overseeing accounting in a multi-business segment environment
  • Experience with complex global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and reporting across sectors
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Cloud) and financial reporting tools
  • Technical proficiency in ASC 730, ASC 360, ASC 606, ASC 842, and other complex transactions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to instill confidence and trust
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience with MD&A and SEC filings
  • High degree of trust, integrity, open communication, and teamwork orientation
