Senior Accounting Director
Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Director for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Overview
The Senior Director, Assistant Corporate Controller, oversees accounting functions, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of consolidated financial information across global operations. The role involves managing accounting processes, leading teams, and collaborating with various departments and external auditors to support strategic initiatives and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close processes and coordinate the work of various team members to meet defined close timelines.
- Oversee general ledger, corporate accounting, inventory/costing, leases, revenue, fixed assets, and accounts receivable, supporting the close and reporting processes.
- Champion continuous review and modification of the close processes and accounting procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
- Support the establishment of department goals, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with company strategy.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could lead to accounting error or loss of operational effectiveness.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of consolidated financial information, including intercompany eliminations, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Evaluate and implement new accounting systems and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Improve processes related to order-to-cash, revenue recognition, inventory management, fixed assets, and procure-to-pay.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and resolve findings efficiently.
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across departments.
- Support strategic initiatives and provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and internal controls, including SOX compliance.
- Assist with acquisition accounting and integration of new subsidiaries.
- Plan, direct, and execute various accounting projects supporting company growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Active CPA license
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in accounting
- At least 5 years in a leadership role within a public company
- At least 3 years with a Big 4 accounting firm
- Expert understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX internal controls
- Solid understanding of SEC external financial reporting
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills
- Experience coordinating with external auditors
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP S/4HANA) and financial reporting tools (e.g., OneStream, Hyperion)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
