Facility Maintenance Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Oxford, Ohio.
Overview
This role involves performing general facility maintenance tasks in a large, aging building, ensuring safety standards, and supporting various repairs and operational functions on-site. The position requires a self-starter with strong handyman skills and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
- Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation.
- Record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Use appropriate tooling to troubleshoot simple AC/DC electrical circuits.
- Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair miscellaneous operational equipment as needed.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, restoration, and replacement of building components.
- Maintain and repair locks, doors, furniture, and controllers.
- Maintain documentation for fire extinguishers, fire safety systems, and other building systems.
- Maintain and repair plumbing components including toilets, urinals, sinks, and piping.
- Prepare, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces, and perform general handyman tasks.
- Perform interior maintenance tasks such as hanging pictures and repairing furniture.
- Complete special tasks including painting, locksmith work, tenant services, and general maintenance.
- Move office furniture, machinery, and other materials as requested.
- Work with clients to provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain positive working relationships across operations facilities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of handyman principles, techniques, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to learn and operate basic computer programs and systems.
- Ability to handle physical labor including bending, lifting over 50 lbs, and using tools.
- Basic understanding of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Friendly personality with a commitment to customer service.
- Strong work ethic and dependability.
- Ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and at night.

This is an on-site position with shifts from Thursday to Sunday, 10 am to 8 pm, with no on-call duties until conversion to a full-time employee.
