Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Columbia, South Carolina.
Overview
The HVAC Technician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across multiple sites. They should demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC systems and possess handyman skills, including light plumbing and electrical work, to ensure the proper functioning of building systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, and fire safety systems for multiple facilities.
- Travel between various facilities to ensure proper operation and maintenance.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance.
- Maintain and calibrate HVAC systems and associated equipment to optimize performance, including cleaning and parts replacement.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper equipment operation.
- Follow safety protocols for hazardous materials and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform periodic checks of tools and inventory.
- Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and recognize hazards to propose elimination methods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Experience in HVAC systems, with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing malfunctions.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
