Facilities Moving Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Moving Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in McPherson, Kansas.
Overview
This role involves executing workplace relocations, assembling and disassembling office furniture, and performing various facility maintenance tasks. It offers hands-on work experience in facilities management with opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Relocate and reconfigure office equipment, furniture, and materials for associates moving between site locations
- Assemble and disassemble modular office furniture, cubicles, and various office layouts
- Perform basic work such as installing shelves, hanging whiteboards, and minor repairs
- Assist with general office maintenance including light mechanical repairs
- Create and manage keys for office spaces
- Follow safety protocols and procedures at all times
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies
- Document completed work orders into CMMS system
- Collaborate effectively with team members in a corporate environment
- Conduct daily site inspection walks using provided forms
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to read and understand furniture assembly instructions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods
- Experience in drywall preparation, repair, and painting prep
- Experience hanging TVs, monitors, whiteboards, and similar items on walls
- Furniture assembly, disassembly, and relocation skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Some basic plumbing knowledge
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance, moving, or furniture assembly
This is a full-time position with working hours from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed. Safety shoes are required, along with jeans. The job may involve use of company van or golf cart for transportation.
