Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC/Refrigeration Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Overview

The role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment within assigned facilities to ensure efficient operation and longevity. The technician will focus on energy-efficient, safe maintenance practices to reduce downtime and perform repairs and inspections on various facility systems and structures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment in assigned facilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems and components
  • Maintain accurate records of operating experiences and repairs
  • Ensure equipment operates efficiently, safely, and within compliance standards
  • Complete hazard assessments and adhere to all safety procedures
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for work-related travel
  • Submit P-card receipts daily and update work status in CMMS systems such as Corrigo
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections and escalate issues promptly
  • Participate in safety meetings and other assigned duties
  • Drive for long periods, work from heights, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 80 lbs and working in adverse conditions
  • Be available for call-in work and respond to calls when scheduled

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and equipment maintenance
  • HVAC Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)
  • Knowledge of system design and applications
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Third-party certification in HVAC or related field
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
