Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Overview

This role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining various building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general facility equipment, to ensure efficient and safe building operations. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to support multiple clients within the facility management portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive and reactive work orders on mechanical, electrical, and other systems within the facility.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and associated equipment.
  • Inspect assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, and lighting.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot facility equipment, ensuring energy efficiency and safety.
  • Document activities, update work order statuses in real-time, and utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo.
  • Operate, inspects, and maintains refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment.
  • Perform facility inspections and report on conditions impacting operations and occupancy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain necessary certifications.
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license and be available for call-in work as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in building engineering, HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, or related fields.
  • Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Experience troubleshooting commercial or supermarket refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to perform inspections and repairs on various facility systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing CMMS (work order) systems.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC.

The shift for this role is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, primarily daytime shifts.
