Door Systems Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Door Systems Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Harvard, Massachusetts.
Overview
The Door Systems Technician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various door systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing site. This role involves supporting facility management services and ensuring the proper functioning of door and access hardware across the campus.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of doors such as dock levelers, exterior sliding gates, motor-operated roll-up doors, inter-locking man doors, storefront glass entrance doors, commercial man doors, hollow metal doors with low energy operators, rolling steel fire doors, airwalls, and high-speed roll-up doors
- Repair and perform maintenance services for all types of doors as requested
- Install, configure, and maintain electronic access control system components such as proximity sensors, mag locks, e strike/latch, and key access
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning door hardware and access control devices
- Maintain and repair locks, locking mechanisms, door closers, furniture, and controllers
- Perform mechanical inspections and checks, support door programming adjustments with vendors
- Provide preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, and testing services for door types and dock levelers according to schedules
- Support general maintenance activities including repair of office furniture, patching, painting, minor plumbing, and lighting maintenance
- Conduct facility inspections and report on conditions affecting operations and safety
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Maintain service documentation and communicate with management regarding issues and workload priorities
- Monitor tools, parts, and equipment condition and inventory
- Assist with outside contractor work and other assigned duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot various door and gate systems
- Knowledge of door brands such as Stanley, Dormakaba, Tormax, Chase, ASI, Schlage, or similar
- Experience working in a manufacturing or lab environment, with cGMP experience preferred
- AAADM certification for automatic door installation, inspection, and maintenance (preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Gmail, Google Docs, Word, and Excel
- Must be willing to work in a team environment and maintain punctuality
- Willing to work overtime and be available for call-in work as needed
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
