Engineering Technologist
Talascend is currently seeking a Engineering Technologist for a contract opportunity with our client in Carmel, Indiana.
Overview
The Engineering Technologist role involves performing field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations within the electric utility sector. The position requires coordination with various stakeholders and support during construction activities to ensure standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Review work provided by client and assess scope requirements.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office for engineering design work.
- Collect field data to assist in developing electrical design work packages, with approximately 80% travel locally and regionally.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments; some field work may be required.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Power/utilities experience preferred.
- Previous experience with field data collection preferred.
- Valid US driver’s license required for local and regional travel.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with power systems and electrical design.
