Talascend is currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Chandler, Arizona.

Overview

This role involves performing tasks related to the formation and administration of purchase orders, including preparing bid requests, qualifying bidders, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure project needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares bidders’ lists and qualifies bidders
  • Communicates with engineering to assist in material requisitions
  • Forms bid packages and issues bid requests
  • Coordinates bidders’ questions and receives bids
  • Prepares commercial bid summaries and recommendations for award
  • Communicates with suppliers and internal personnel to define requirements
  • Identifies, defines, and secures agreement on purchase order changes
  • Initiates and processes purchase order revisions related to scope, cost, and schedule
  • Monitors supplier performance for conformance to terms
  • Ensures compliance with order terms through activities by engineering and other functions
  • Follows up with suppliers and project teams to ensure performance
  • Manages files and control documents related to purchase orders
  • Analyzes and distributes supplier reports as specified in the contract

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience preparing and issuing purchase orders
  • Knowledge of coordinating bid packages and evaluating bids
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to monitor supplier performance and manage order revisions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
