Manufacturing Process Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in South Bend, Indiana.
Overview
This role involves planning, designing, and overseeing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant setting, with a focus on maximizing efficiency, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with product specifications. The position includes leading process ownership and providing manufacturing expertise within the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team by providing facilities management, manufacturing engineering, equipment readiness, equipment reliability, and operational activities at the location
- Become a process owner and subject matter expert of high temperature furnaces
- Audit, train, and certify operators on manufacturing operations
- Learn furnace operating process equipment, record and analyze process data for specification compliance
- Assist with fault diagnosis and emergency operation procedures
- Ensure work instructions, manufacturing methods, and equipment operability are followed
- Manage manufacturing process ownership and team coordination
- Coordinate resolution, process definition, and project planning
- Mentor operators and technicians, drive technical solutions, and communicate maintenance schedules
- Identify, prioritize, and audit work, participate in outage planning, and coordinate equipment readiness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology
- 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing or related field
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Cause identification/FMEA experience
- Familiarity with PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems
- Good manual dexterity, ability to climb stairs/ladders, walk a couple miles a day, and withstand warm environments (80-100F)
- Ability to perform data recording, analysis, and fault diagnosis
- Strong analytical skills and creative thinking
- Proficient in project management and familiarity with SAP/HOS, CAD systems
- Excellent team leadership and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical and chemical engineering
- Willingness to learn new technologies
- Extensive experience in facilities management or manufacturing
- Ability to lead and direct others
