Electrical Power Systems Specialist

Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Power Systems Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

This role involves performing electrical power systems studies and design work, with a focus on system analysis, diagrams, and various electrical design tools. The position requires collaboration within teams and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical power system studies including load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, motor starting, Arc Flash, harmonic, grounding, cable thermal analysis, and cable sizing.
• Design and develop single line diagrams, metering and protection diagrams, schematics, and connection diagrams.
• Create MCC schedules, panel schedules, cable schedules, and substation layout drawings.
• Apply knowledge of medium voltage (34.5kV / 13.8kV / 4.160kV) and low voltage (480V and 208/120V) systems, including switchgear, MCCs, switchboards, lighting panels, and distribution boards.
• Utilize electrical system design tools such as ETAP, SKM, MicroStation, Revit, and AutoCAD 2D/3D.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, ANSI/IEEE, and other industry standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and coordinate with global execution teams.
• Maintain professional registration (P.E.) in electrical engineering (power).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, MicroStation, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of medium and low voltage electrical systems.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as NEC and ANSI/IEEE.
• Authorization to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
