Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Overview
This role involves performing field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations related to utility distribution projects. The engineer will support construction activities, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure standards are met through close coordination with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to verify standards compliance
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and collect field data to assist in electrical design work
- Perform field inspections and engineering design work for utility projects
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates Degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work outdoors and in outdoor environments
- Valid US driver’s license for local and regional travel
- Previous experience with field data collection preferred
- Power/utilities industry experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Strong background in utility distribution design work
- Power industry experience
