Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Overview

This role involves providing engineering support for utility distribution design work, field inspections, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure standards are met in the power industry. The position requires travel to sites and a blend of field and office work.

Responsibilities

  • Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
  • Travel to sites as needed to perform inspections and gather field data
  • Perform engineering design work based on collected data and standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Valid US driver’s license for local and regional travel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and handle field work when required
  • Power/utilities experience and previous field data collection experience are preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in engineering technology or related field
  • Experience with utility distribution design work
  • Experience with field data collection and site inspections

Shift

Standard work hours are 40 hours, 5 days a week. Typically, no overtime is expected or required for this role.
