Talascend is currently seeking a Dimensional Analysis Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Dearborn, Michigan.

Overview

The Dimensional Analysis Technician will perform and maintain component dimensional analysis equipment and measurements, providing analysis reports to engineering and test customers. They will also mentor and oversee team members to ensure standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Measure hard points and 3D laser scan data for component and vehicle measurements using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) arm.
  • Support the supervisor and team members with report status.
  • Assist and lead team and customer meetings.
  • Interpret technical dimensional documents.
  • Troubleshoot and solve issues related to CMM software and hardware.
  • Setup and tear down of components and vehicles on dimensional surface plates.
  • Perform regularly scheduled calibration checks and maintenance of CMM equipment.
  • Prepare technical dimensional analysis results in various formats for distribution.
  • Participate in daily surface plates clean-up in preparation for upcoming projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of coordinate measurement machine (CMM), computer aided design (CAD), or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in computer aided design (CAD), metrology, or related fields
  • Associate's degree in engineering, design, or metrology
  • Strong knowledge of automotive components
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very detail oriented
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Strong knowledge of CATIA, Teamcenter, and PolyWorks software
  • Strong math skills and understanding of geometry
  • Knowledge of other 3D scanning systems such as ATOS
  • Basic knowledge of advanced measurement techniques such as motion tracking and haptics testing
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends
