Talascend is currently seeking a 3rd Shift Battery Lab Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.
Overview
This role involves supporting battery cell manufacturing processes in a controlled environment, performing equipment setup, maintenance, chemical mixing, troubleshooting, and process documentation to ensure reliable and efficient production.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to equipment setup, operation, cleaning, testing, and process checks
- Work within a clean room environment wearing necessary protective equipment
- Utilize job instruction training to enhance skills within the work group
- Mix chemicals according to specified recipes
- Perform scheduled equipment maintenance and cleaning
- Observe equipment functionality and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain records, analyze data, and report results
- Recommend process revisions and document best practices
- Use data collection to facilitate process improvements and corrective actions
- Identify and eliminate operational waste using lean manufacturing tools
- Apply problem-solving techniques to improve efficiency, quality, and safety
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices
- Coordinate findings with engineering personnel
- Properly dispose of waste materials
- Participate actively in team meetings and stakeholder coordination
- Support preventive maintenance activities and incoming work requests
Qualifications
- Associate degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of previous experience in a lab/testing environment
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical, chemical, or electrical concepts
- Working knowledge of computer applications used in lab/manufacturing settings
- Ability to interpret engineering instructions accurately
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Analytical skills to handle complex problems
- Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork
- Willingness to work any shift, including third shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with battery technologies and lab environments is a plus
This position requires wearing respirators and working in a controlled clean room environment, with an opportunity for overtime if desired. The role is long-term with potential for extension or direct placement.
