Talascend is currently seeking a Custodian for a contract opportunity with our client in Ashburn, Virginia.

Overview

The main function of a custodian is to perform cleaning services and maintain the overall condition of the building or space. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a clean and healthy environment in a lab setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning services per scope and follow standard operating procedures where applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy facility by completing tasks such as mopping and vacuuming floors, high and low dusting, deep cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and restrooms, and disposing of waste receptacles daily, including recyclables.
  • Complete deep cleans, office restoration, and special projects as requested by supervisor and building management.
  • Verify proper chemicals are used for each designated area.
  • Organize and upkeep janitor closets, supply storage, and cleaning equipment.
  • Notify supervisor of deficiencies, safety concerns, or repair needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 0-2 years of experience required
  • Responsible for cleaning the vivarium in a lab setting
  • Hospitality/cleaning experience (1-2 years), experience in labs would be a plus
  • Interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday
  • Skilled in using computer applications
  • Ability to read, write, and understand documentation in English
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
