Talascend is currently seeking a Material Handler for an opportunity in Livonia, MI.
Overview
The Material Control Technician II is responsible for picking automotive parts and preparing them for movement to the shop floor. In addition to physically moving material, this role involves processing material moves in an ERP system and providing support for freight logistics within the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Pick automotive parts and prepare them for shipment to the shop floor
- Process material movements in an ERP system with accuracy
- Assist in moving freight in and out of trucks and around the warehouse
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Manage inventory transactions and perform cycle counts
- Support receiving and distributing parts within the warehouse or production area
- Operate a Hi-Lo forklift and complete required training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of material control experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Experience managing inventory using a computer and making transactions
- Ability to drive a Hi-Lo forklift and pass internal training
- Experience recording and tracking inventory in an ERP system
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and data entry skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate cycle count and inventory experience
- Experience with receiving and distributing parts in a warehouse or production environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work overtime and maintain reliable attendance
- Ability to read, count, and communicate inventory data effectively
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to obtain or qualify for an industrial truck license
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience using PeopleSoft (ERP system)
