Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Seattle, Washington.
Overview
The role involves supporting electric utility design engineering projects, with an emphasis on developing work packages for overhead, underground, and other distribution systems. Candidates will gain experience working on complex cable and conduit projects, ensuring compliance with client standards, and supporting field and office engineering activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV.
- Ensure compliance with safety, design, and quality standards.
- Travel to sites as needed for inspections and return to perform engineering design work.
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, conductor sag and tension, voltage drop, and flicker calculations.
- Develop permitting documents for various Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) from an ABET accredited institution.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some travel could be anticipated (reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, with the ability to work outdoors occasionally.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
