Talascend is currently seeking a Material Planner for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.
Overview
The Material Planner I will work with suppliers and operations to deliver the right material at the correct quantity and at the right time to meet production schedules. This role involves communication with suppliers, purchasing, and operational teams to ensure timely delivery and material availability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure continuous production by utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to meet material and production requirements, focusing on forecast and dependent demand.
- Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to ensure they receive planning-generated purchase orders, releases, and forecasts.
- Escalate and resolve issues or discrepancies found during the planning process to the appropriate cross-functional team members.
- Manage material requirement changes resulting from engineering change orders (ECOs) and forecast adjustments.
- Work closely with the operations team to cover and achieve any schedule changes.
- Participate in end-of-life program meetings.
- Follow up and track the delivery of materials to ensure schedule adherence, including reporting supplier shipments.
- Analyze expedited requests as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of supply chain experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree
- Basic understanding of supply chain flow and general business practices
- Proven problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Solid understanding of materials flow and inventory triggers
- Self-starter mindset seeking process improvements
- Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification
