Talascend is currently seeking a Production Planner for a direct hire opportunity with our client located in Salem, OH.

Overview: 


The Production Planner / Deputy Project Manager is responsible for providing administrative, planning, reporting, and execution support to the Production Supervisor and Head of Execution. The position serves as the primary coordinator for production planning information, work order administration, production reporting, project execution support, material coordination, and data management activities.

The role is intended to remove administrative burden from both workshop leadership and project execution functions by ensuring accurate production records, documentation control, schedule maintenance, reporting, KPI preparation, and follow-up of routine execution activities.

The incumbent works closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Project Management to support the successful execution of manufacturing and project activities.

Main Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Administration
  • Maintain production schedules and work order documentation.
  • Create, update, distribute, and archive production work packages.
  • Maintain production records, progress reporting, and shop performance metrics.
  • Coordinate drawing revisions and document control activities.
  • Support production capacity planning and workload reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of production planning data.
Project Execution Support
  • Provide administrative and reporting support to the Head of Execution.
  • Maintain project tracking tools, schedules, action lists, and status reports.
  • Assist with preparation of project reviews, KPI reports, progress reports, and management presentations.
  • Coordinate routine follow-up activities with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support project documentation, closeout activities, and reporting requirements.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain and validate information within SAP, AFO, Excel, and other reporting tools.
  • Prepare recurring management and operational reports.
  • Verify consistency between production schedules, project trackers, and reporting systems.
  • Assist with KPI preparation, workload forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Support audit readiness and documentation requirements.
Material & Supply Coordination
  • Monitor material availability and support material planning activities.
  • Coordinate ordering and replenishment of shop supplies and consumables.
  • Support purchasing activities through administrative follow-up and reporting.
  • Maintain inventory visibility for production support materials.
Continuous Improvement
  • Support ISO processes and documentation requirements.
  • Develop and improve planning, reporting, and tracking tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and administrative processes.
  • Support implementation of best practices within Production and Project Execution.

Qualification & Requirements:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Business, Project Administration, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in production planning, project coordination, manufacturing administration, or related industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with SAP and SAP Analysis for Office (AFO) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and bills of material.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to operate office equipment. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Periodic shop-floor presence is required to support production planning and coordination activities.

Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Safety glasses and steel-toed footwear are required when entering production areas. Additional PPE may be required based on specific activities and work locations.

Work Environment:
  • Work is performed primarily in an workshop office environment with regular exposure to manufacturing operations. The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, noise, and other conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing facility.
