Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Overview
This role involves electric utility design engineering, including developing work packages, performing engineering calculations, supporting construction activities, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met in both field and office settings.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, conductor sag and tension, voltage drop, and flicker
- Develop permitting documents and provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Assist with coordination of conflicting utilities, design standards adherence, and site inspections
- Travel to sites as needed and work in both field and office environments
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, with ability to work outdoors occasionally
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc or similar
- Experience using CAD tools, MicroStation and/or GIS
- Knowledge of NESC standards and design standards
- Professional attributes such as a collaborative attitude, positivity, and professional demeanor
