Talascend is currently seeking a Building Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Chino, California.

Overview

This role involves managing building operations, ensuring the functionality and safety of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, and supervising maintenance staff to maintain optimal building performance and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning, boilers, heating, ventilation, pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and oversee repair activities for HVAC systems.
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies, including preparing purchase requests and checking inventory levels.
  • Supervise contractors working within the building and ensure work quality and safety standards are met.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement remediation measures to maintain a safe environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and maintain up-to-date documentation for regulatory purposes.
  • Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and development.
  • Provide training to staff on safety, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3+ years of facility-related work experience, including customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience.
  • Managerial experience required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and construction planning and execution.
  • Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling and pumping, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Corrigo experience is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications or additional building management training.
