Industrial Cleaner

Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial Cleaner for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Richmond, Virginia.

Shifts open - 7am - 3:30pm or 3pm - 11:30pm

Overview

This role involves cleaning and maintaining various areas within a facility, operating cleaning equipment, managing recycling and waste initiatives, and ensuring safety standards are met. The position requires physical stamina and attention to detail to support a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, steam cleaning, shampooing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash and recycling including pallets, cardboard, metal scrap, etc.
• Operate riding floor scrubbers, vacuums, sweepers, and carpet extractors.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds, perform overhead work while balancing on ladders, and access confined or difficult areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of cleaning experience or related field.
• Proficiency in cleaning techniques and familiarity with cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills and customer service attitude.
• Ability to work in different environments and adapt to changing tasks.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate basic instructions.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Physical stamina to handle long hours of standing and repetitive movements.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
