Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Richmond, Virginia.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the operational excellence of assigned facilities by supporting the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This hands-on position involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, conducting inspections, and handling routine facility tasks to support safe and functional environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed systems through work order management and CMMS systems like 360 Facility
  • Conduct facility inspections and assessments, documenting conditions and escalating issues as needed
  • Execute general interior maintenance tasks such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, repairing office furniture, doors, and lighting
  • Maintain HVAC systems by cleaning coils, changing filters and belts, and supporting repair efforts
  • Complete hazard assessments and ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintain vehicle safety inspections and practice defensive driving
  • Submit P-card receipts daily and update work order statuses in real time
  • Attend work and safety meetings as required
  • Ensure safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with laws and ordinances

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and electrical work
  • Valid state driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to pass background, drug/alcohol, and MVR screening
  • Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and perform frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems for work order management
  • All required licenses and completion of scheduled safety trainings

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3rd party certifications related to facility maintenance or building trades
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with 360 Facility or similar CMMS platforms

The shift for this position is day shift, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional Saturday work.
