Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Ashland, Virginia.

Overview

This role involves overseeing the operation, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs of various facility systems across two sites. The technician will perform tasks related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation and perform repairs, installation, and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.
  • Inspect and ensure all drainage and drainage systems are clear and functional, responding to obstructions or blockages.
  • Inspect and maintain compressed air systems, respond to emergencies, and schedule preventive maintenance.
  • Oversee dock and loading equipment systems, respond to malfunctions, and coordinate vendor services as needed.
  • Work with clients to schedule equipment downtime for maintenance with minimal impact on end users.
  • Analyze system operations, identify causes of malfunctions, and take corrective actions.
  • Utilize smartphone and basic computer software to monitor logs and report issues.
  • Prioritize and manage all preventative and emergency work orders.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, arriving on site within 2 hours for emergencies.
  • Deliver professional customer service through effective communication and timely follow-up.
  • Perform general maintenance and support duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Proficient in basic computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook, and CMMS (Maximo or Corrigo)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work from heights up to 30 ft., and perform physical tasks involving climbing, bending, and extended periods of work in adverse conditions
  • Availability for call-in work and emergency response

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA Universal License
  • BAS experience
  • Preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment
  • Low and medium voltage electrical experience
  • Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA rules and requirements
