Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a contract opportunity with our client in Goleta, California.
Overview
The electrician will support research and development laboratories by maintaining and troubleshooting electrical infrastructure in diverse environments, ensuring all electrical systems operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine assessments, tests, and data analysis to ensure proper functioning of lab equipment and building systems
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, including single- and three-phase systems up to 480V, lighting, panels, branch circuits, and motor controls
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings
- Operate under the supervision of the lead electrician
- Understand backup power systems, including large-scale UPS and changeover switchgear
- Manage emergency power distribution at panel level and mitigate static electricity in sensitive environments
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on lighting, electrical distribution, and motor equipment
- Run conduit, pull wire, and terminate circuits in compliance with NEC standards
- Complete work orders accurately in the maintenance management system
- Replace lamps, ballasts, drivers, breakers, and other electrical components
- Support cross-trade tasks such as plumbing, HVAC, and general facility repairs
- Participate in response efforts for unplanned emergencies
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA standards, and safety policies including Lockout/Tagout procedures
Qualifications
- Valid electrical license (Journeyman or equivalent)
- 3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience with working knowledge of NEC requirements
- Experience troubleshooting electrical distribution and lighting systems with ability to read schematics and drawings
- Experience working within a CMMS-driven maintenance environment and understanding electrical safety procedures
- Multi-trade maintenance experience with cross-functional facility support capabilities
- Physical ability to climb ladders, operate scissor lifts up to 20 feet, and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with motor controls and VFDs
- Understanding critical power distribution within raised floor environments
The shift is Monday – Friday, from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
