Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks across building systems. This role serves as the first line of response for facility needs, focusing on executing maintenance work, identifying issues requiring vendor assistance, and ensuring tenant requests are handled professionally and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Execute assigned maintenance tasks including painting, pressure washing, lighting system maintenance (bulbs/ballasts), basic plumbing repairs, locksmith work, and general building upkeep (as allowed by licensing requirements)
- Identify and troubleshoot HVAC issues, determining when specialist or vendor support is required
- Respond to tenant service requests through the work order system (CMMS), maintaining daily updates and clear communication
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspection tasks according to established procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency response situations (infrequent)
- Monitor building systems including electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls, escalating concerns appropriately
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols consistently
- Engage in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs
- Support team members and collaborate effectively on projects
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, repair work, or related trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry)
- Trade school education, union training, military service, or college coursework preferred
- Universal CFC EPA certification or willingness to obtain within first year (support provided)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for tenant interactions
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic maintenance environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably on ladders up to 30 feet
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and/or drive
- Customer service orientation with professional demeanor
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
