Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC Facilities Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Overview
Operates, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other facility equipment and systems. Supports safe, energy-efficient facility operations while minimizing downtime and maintaining accurate work records.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair work orders for facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
- Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Maintain and repair electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interiors and exteriors, related grounds, and production equipment.
- Inspect and repair walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, and other interior and exterior areas.
- Perform facility inspections and report conditions that may affect satisfactory occupancy and operations.
- Study equipment and operating procedures required for daily activities.
- Update work order status in real time and document completed work using computerized maintenance management systems.
- Maintain accurate records of operating conditions and completed work.
- Maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Remain available for call-in work and perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of four years of technical experience in building engineering.
- Strong technical background in HVAC and refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, production equipment repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or supermarket refrigeration systems.
- Universal CFC recovery certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
- EPA certification at least at Type I and Type II levels.
- Strong HVAC technical expertise with basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial facilities experience.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management or work order systems.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Two years of trade school or a documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC.
Shift
Standard business hours with on-call availability.
