Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Traverse City, Michigan.
Overview
Operates, inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, production, and other facility equipment and systems. Performs interior and exterior facility repairs while supporting safe, energy-efficient operations and minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair response work orders for facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
- Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interiors and exteriors, related grounds, and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment, with a strong focus on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Perform inspections and repairs involving walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, and other facility areas.
- Study equipment and become familiar with the methods required to operate and maintain it properly.
- Perform assigned facility inspections and report conditions that may impact occupancy and operations.
- Submit purchasing card receipts daily.
- Update work order status in real time.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems for all work performed.
- Maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of technical experience in building engineering.
- Universal CFC recovery certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, production equipment repair and maintenance, and overall system design and applications.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or supermarket refrigeration.
- Ability to work across multiple skill areas, including electrical, HVAC, piping and plumbing, and material handling equipment.
- Willingness to join the applicable labor organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using computerized maintenance management or work order systems.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- Two years of trade school or a documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC.
- UST Class B certification.
- Experience with supermarket rack refrigeration.
