Electrician
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a contract opportunity with our client in Brookville, Ohio.
Overview
The Electrician will oversee the daily operation of the campus electrical power and lighting systems, requiring a high level of technical expertise with a variety of building infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems.
- Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including electrical, heat exchanger, HVAC, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems.
- Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
- Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching and motor controls.
- Monitor operation, repair, and maintain other mechanical and electrical equipment; recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform other general maintenance and support duties on an as-needed basis.
- Oversee the general operation, repair and maintenance of the building electrical and lighting systems, perform new installations and perform PMs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on all electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems.
- Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the building critical systems and components.
- Troubleshoot and respond to operational and emergency situations.
- Check malfunctioning equipment and put corrective actions in place.
- Assist other departments in the maintenance and repair of heating and cooling valves, water cooling equipment; boilers, heating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters.
- Ensure that work is performed efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.
- Prioritize all PMs, corrective and emergent work orders for the site.
- Identify and remediate all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) issues as they arise.
- Complete all assigned training and comply with the established training standards at all times.
- Recommend and estimate facilities repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget.
- Ensure the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the building.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders requests, develop sources for stock materials and perform periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- Preferred: Electrical License
Requirements
- Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Familiar with BMS and CMMS systems.
- Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment.
- Able to work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
- Able to work on roofs of buildings.
- Must be proficient in basic computer application software such as MS Office, Outlook, Work Order System, etc.
- Prior safety training such as NFPA-70E and OSHA-10.
Preferred Requirements
- Holds a trade license.
Shift
3rd shift. 10pm-6:30am. On-call rotating schedule. Every 4 weeks end up with 4 days off in a row. Off-hours shifts, evening, night and weekend work may be required.
