Reactor Equipment Fabrication Manager
Talascend is currently seeking an Reactor Equipment Fabrication Manager for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
The Reactor Enclosure System (RES) Fabrication Manager is responsible for leading a geographically diverse team focused on the design for fabrication, reactor fabrication oversight, and assembly of the reactor equipment supporting a major project. The role involves coordinating with multiple teams and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Interface and coordinate a geographically diverse team to manage delivery of reactor equipment hardware.
- Support development and delivery of integrated reactor equipment from design through construction and startup, emphasizing safety and reliability.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety and quality standards.
- Develop and coordinate the fabrication lifecycle, including design for fabrication, construction drawings, specifications, and testing plans.
- Ensure approval of material and weld specifications and oversee reactor materials acquisition strategies.
- Advise on fabrication and assembly schedules, integrating schedules across suppliers and project organizations.
- Interface with systems during design and fabrication phases, including metrology and coordinate systems of major reactor components.
- Oversee resolution of non-conformance reports and engineering changes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory criteria such as ASME BPVC sections.
- Interface with regulators, stakeholders, and customers regarding design, fabrication, and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate with project teams and subcontractors to develop cohesive strategies and ensure proper hand-offs.
- Review design work by subrecipients and subcontractors for quality and completeness.
- Provide technical oversight of fabrication and construction activities to ensure successful component delivery.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university
- 8+ years of direct experience with large component fabrication and construction methods and processes, or an M.S. with equivalent experience
- Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
- Experience with heavy mechanical/pressure vessel fabrication and oversight of suppliers and subcontractors
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections VIII and/or III
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- High integrity, openness in communication, and teamwork orientation
