Systems Programming Analyst
Talascend is currently seeking an Systems Programming Analyst for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
This role involves performing programming and analysis assignments on complex business systems, including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting systems operations based on detailed specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform programming and analysis on complex business systems
- Formulate and define system scope and objectives for assigned projects
- Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering hardware capacity and limitations
- Design, code, test, debug, modify, and document complex systems
- Investigate hardware and software configurations and capabilities; recommend optimal systems
- Develop programming standards, documentation, and development plans
- Prepare detailed specifications and project management plans
- Function as a technical lead for small to medium-sized projects and provide guidance to others
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 8+ years of experience in programming on mainframes, minicomputers, or personal computers
- Working knowledge of procedures, utilities, and job control languages
- Thorough knowledge of database design and operating systems applicable to mainframe/midrange environments
- Ability to handle seldom and unusual occurring job events
- Ability to complete complex assignments and provide guidance to less experienced staff
- Good communication skills
